Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and offers delegates a compact, welcoming and culturally rich setting for an international conference. The city combines a strong industrial and innovation heritage with a growing technology and business community, while remaining easy to navigate from Queen’s University Belfast and the city centre.

Delegates can explore Belfast’s architecture, food, arts and cultural attractions, including Titanic Belfast and the historic Titanic Quarter. Northern Ireland also offers internationally recognised landscapes and visitor attractions, including the Giant’s Causeway on the north coast.

Queen’s University Belfast is closely connected to the social and cultural life of Belfast. The University’s historic main campus and the surrounding Queen’s Quarter are within walking distance of Riddel Hall, while Belfast city centre can be reached easily by public transport or taxi.

Queen’s Business School is one of the leading business schools in the UK and Ireland and is part of Queen’s University Belfast, a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities. The School provides undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education and is a globally engaged centre for research with close connections to business, civil society and government.

Located at 185 Stranmillis Road, adjacent to Queen’s main campus, the School combines the historic Riddel Hall with modern teaching, research, business-engagement and conference facilities. The wider Queen’s Business School campus includes Riddel Hall, the QBS Conference Hub, Academic Hub and Student Hub, providing a distinctive setting for learning, research, collaboration and professional engagement.

By air

Belfast is served by two airports. George Best Belfast City Airport is approximately three miles from Belfast city centre and provides convenient connections with major UK airports and selected European destinations. Belfast International Airport is approximately 30 minutes by road from the city centre and serves a wide range of UK and international routes.

Dublin Airport provides an additional international gateway and is connected to Belfast by frequent direct coach services. Journey times are typically around two hours, depending on traffic and the service used.

By sea

Belfast can also be reached by ferry, with services connecting Northern Ireland with Great Britain. Delegates planning travel by sea should check current operators and timetables when making their arrangements.

Local transport

Belfast is a compact city. Public transport in Northern Ireland is operated by Translink, with Metro bus services connecting the city centre, the Queen’s Quarter and the Stranmillis area. Taxis are also widely available. Delegates staying near Queen’s University may find that many conference-related locations are within walking distance.
